The Project

As part of Valliant Construction’s design / build team, Anderson was the lead designer for one of the first rural initiative National Cemeteries in the country, and the first National Cemetery in the State of North Dakota.  Anderson master-planned over 5,800 gravesites within five-acres of undeveloped land, to meet the VA’s need for a 20-year supply of burial sites.  Anderson also designed, engineered and oversaw the Phase 1 of construction.

Phase 1 was designed and constructed within two years, and dedicated to Veterans on September 7th, 2019. The cemetery will provide casket and in-ground cremation burials, columbarium niches for cremation burials and a memorial wall.  Additional Phase 1 amenities included a flag assembly area, committal service shelter, entrance monument and an irrigation pumphouse utilizing stormwater runoff to sustainably irrigate the entire cemetery.
